Kim Hyun Joong Goes Solo

It has been known that Kim Hyun Joong has left SS501 and DSP entertainment as his 5 year exclusive contract has expired earlier this month and signs with Keyeast Entertainment.

Keyeast said that after the contract ended with DSP on June 7 to 12, Kim Hyun Joong has been receiving a lot of love calls from other agencies and later decided to transfer to Keyeast Entertainment which is known for it's world class actors and actresses.

However, There is no conflict with DSP nor with the members, Kim Hyun Joong transferred due to his own interest. Keyeast said on the 29th, "Kim Hyun Joong is going to maintain his good relationships with the members of SS501".

DSP Entertainment said that they are unsure whether to continue SS501 with 4 members or recruit a new member, or such, they have no plans for SS501's next step yet.

Accordingly, When the contract ended on June 7, Kim Hyun Joong will be having a solo career, but the 4 members of SS501 have renewed their contracts with their current agency DSP Entertainment, and the members have already agreed on releasing an album as a group in the future.

DSP Entertainment are still considering their options on the next step of SS501 without their leader Kim Hyun Joong.

Kim Hyun Joong: Prefers "Gopchang" Over Steak

Big eyes, high nose, broad shoulder and also tall body, just like the character walking out of a romance comic, this person is SS501′s leader Kim Hyun Joong. Kim Hyun Joong is a singer cum actor who has various type of charms.

Showing his sexy charm on stage, portraying unreservedly in drama the image flowery beauty man. However, behind the stage, outside of the camera screen, unlike his gentle outlook, he is full of male charismatic. In addition to that, one can’t help but to laugh at his out-of-the-box thinking, he is a man with humour.

Having different charm from one extreme to another, his diet choice is entirely different from his look. Judging from his outlook, he looked like one that loves to frequent high-class western restaurants, drinking red wine and eating steak, but actually it differs. Kim Hyun Joong loves to eat spicy food and South Korean food that have the original native taste.

Kim Hyun Joong particularly loves gopchang (intestine of cattle/pork). Occasionally he would wear sports outfit and go to the roadside stall together with his friends or manager. Kim Hyun Joong can drink 3 to 4 bottles of soju (Korean liquor). Eating gopchang and chicken gizzard together with a cup of soju at the roadside stall is most delicious. Kim Hyun Joong does not have special toasting cheer. After drinking too much or when he is slightly drunk, Kim Hyun Joong will smile more than usual. Kim Hyun Joong and gopchang and roadside stall, definitely extraordinary and full of charm.

Kim Hyun-joong "Playful/Mischievous/Naughty Kiss" Interview

"If I cared about the viewers rating, I would've done big dramas. I was really okay with my dramas".

'Naughty Kiss', which ended last October, was a total failure viewers rating-wise. Even though it recorded 8 million viewers for YouTube special version, TV version ended quietly.

Compare to the careful question, Kim Hyun-joong's answer was cool. “Everybody near me asked that I was okay, but I was really okay. I was because it wasn't the worst viewers rated drama. I told people that all I have to do is go up now.”

Kim Hyun-joong confessed that he also learned responsibility as an actor from this drama. “I learned how hard it was to lead a drama by oneself. I don't regret my work since I did my best. I love to have high viewers rating but I don't cling to it. I rather try to do a drama that I can proudly show to my son/daughter later in my life. 'Naughty Kiss' will be one of them.”

He also revealed his thoughts about classic mellow or action drama/movie. “Yoon Ji-ho from 'Boys over Flowers' or Baek Seung-jo from 'Naughty Kiss' are totally different character from me. Their lines are so cheesy. I think they were cheesy because those two dramas were school-based dramas. I want to do some other types of character for next drama. Someone who likes to yell and full of testosterone.”
